Compassion
   for All Species.

A Letter from the Sanctuary

Dear friends,
It is beyond difficult to fully describe a passionate 20 year journey in a page. But an update on the state of this grassroots organization is long overdue!!
First, some facts, figures, and clarifications:

About Us

We are a "for-life" sanctuary emphasizing the concept of compassion and offering exceptional quality of life for many formerly abandoned or abused animals.

Our message is simple... Compassion for ALL species.

Home At Last Animal Sanctuary was organized in 1997 by a small group of animal advocates and is located in rural central Kentucky. Looking for a way to combine hands-on rescue while educating the community about animal welfare issues such as overpopulation and factory farming, Home At Last was born. Over the years, we have made a difference for hundreds of animals who have either come to live out their lives at the sanctuary or have been re-homed through our adoption program. We were one of the only organizations in the United States that rescued companion animals and farm animals, practiced vegetarian feeding and were accredited by the American Sanctuary Association.

Due to extremey limited funds, we were forced to switch to feeding a high-quality meat-based diet; however, we still believe wholeheartedly in a vegetarian diet for companion animals and hope to return to it at some point. We will be happy to counsel you on the process of introducing this diet to your animals.
