Adoptions Page 1 Home At Last maintains eight dog yards (space for 35-40 dogs at any given time. The yards vary in size, but some are over an acre, and all include individual doghouses as well as one large denning house. Additionally, we have three extra, spacious, fenced yards which are smaller in size and used for emergencies, transitions, etc. Dogs are never kept in cages, and instead live in groups of 2-5,encouraging their natural tendency towards socialization. All have space to romp and play in the sun, or nap in the shade of a nearby tree. We have some wonderful dogs available for adoption into loving homes. An $85 donation to help offset the cost of spay/neuter, vaccinations, heartguard, and other medical care is required for each animal adopted. | Ralph They just don’t come much nicer than Ralph! This gentle hound mix was rescued from a local KY shelter where he was facing death row. He has been with us for several years now, so has become a bit of a king in his yard. However, this amazingly gentle, sensitive guy rules merely by barking orders, and gets along great with everyone. His favorite activities are dinnertime, snoozing in the shade, and showing off for visitors by posing on top of his doghouse! Born in 1997, Ralph has spent most of his life at the sanctuary—but we still have hope that the right family is out there for him. Could it be yours? | ![]() |

Turner Brown There’s only one way to describe this dog—and that’s goofy! This loveable coonhound mix “appeared” on our doorstep in the summer of 2002. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and cats and LOVES people. We believe his birthday to be early 2002, so he still has some puppy in him, but that just means that he’s social, playful, and eager to please. He charms everyone he meets and is ready to make you his new best friend!

This old girl had pretty much given up on life before
she came to HAL. Then, after some good food and TLC,

| Jed is a beautiful chow/retriever mix who was found wandering the streets.Unfortunately, he was found heartworm-positive, but after coming to HAL and receiving treatment, he has made a full recovery. Born in 2002, he is young and playful, but also extremely smart and good-natured, and mellow. He gets along great with other dogs, loves people, and is an all-around sweetheart. | ![]() |

| Gordon Cooper Sanctuary caretakers awoke one morning to find this elderly Walker Hound curled up on a bale of hay, patiently awaiting “room at the inn”. Born in 1992, Gordon Cooper is a typical lumbering, long-eared hound, starved for love and companionship. He has a deep voice and remains playful despite his senior status. | ![]() |

| Sammy (approximate
birth date 1997) Before coming to the sanctuary, this sweet, but shy,
heeler mix lingered in a shelter hoping for adoption. He loves people,
but remains extremely cautious due to the multiple rejections and
long-time confinement. He requires several “safe”
interactions before he will comfortably approach. But once he trusts
you, he twirls and dances with excitement, then immediately rolls over
for a belly rub. Like Mickey 2 and Mia, he is one of our resident
Greeters—“herding” visitors along on tours |
