Lilly Lily spent several months at a local shelter, where despite her loving nature, she was facing death row. She is a medium-sized, black lab mix who has an uncommonly sweet nature. She has a resilient spirit about her and seems to regard newcomers as new friends. Born in 1999, this energetic girl will need a family with an active lifestyle. She loves to romp and play in the sunshine—and particularly loves to swim!! |

| Bonnie is a very large and beautiful dog. At 120+ pounds, this shepherd/malmute mix will need a home with a yard where she can run and play. Born in 1998, she was found as a stray with a broken and poorly healing front leg. She still has a noticeable limp, but this strong girl carries her weight well and doesn’t let it stop her from having fun. She is a regal dog who commands control with her amazing presence. She is very friendly and loving, however, due to her size, she would do best in a home with children 10 or older. With a little patience and training, Bonnie will make a fabulous lifetime friend. | ![]() |

| Barney Barney (found with dog companion Betty) had apparently been abandoned and left in the country. At the time of rescue, the dogs were found running full-speed down a major highway, completely panicked by their situation. They spent their first few weeks in rescue at the vet, gaining both weight and confidence. Their initial behavior indicated that they had been aggressively beaten in the past. Barney has turned this aggression on other dogs and because of this now lives in a yard by himself. Despite his dog-aggression, Barney loves human companionship, eagerly going for walks and playing with toys. Because of his problems with other dogs, we consider him special needs and he would need to go to a home without other dogs or children. However, we believe that with the right circumstances, this Aussie/heeler mix (approximate birth date 1997) would flourish with a family of his own. | ![]() |

| Rodney Rodney is another of the extremely special souls who reside at Home At Last. He was rescued from Cincinnati, OH where Pit bulls/Staffordshire terriers are illegal. He was found tied to a tree and abandoned. Born in 1996, this pit bull/chow mix has been with us since 1998. He has shown some unpredictability in the past, but adapted well to sanctuary life and lives very happily with dog friends Bonnie, Duke, and Ruby. He trusts his life at the sanctuary and loves his caretakers. Rodney will need a quiet home with a gentle family and no children. Please read his story here ; it will touch you. | ![]() |
