Gilbert, Revisited

He's the one animal everyone wants to see during a Home At Last visit.   It might seem that Gilbert's favorite activity is peacefully snoozing in his special house with his best pig pal, but Gilbert never disappoints a visitor.  It takes the big fella a while to stir, but he'll always amble over to say hello.
     
Gilbert gets around well for a 1,000-pound pig with lingering injuries.  He fell from a truck nearly three years ago in Louisville, KY and was promptly hit by another truck.  He's been with us ever since.  Gilbert has even fixed an old farm pond that would not hold water in its pre-Gilbert days.  Now, it's a nice pool where the big pigs cool off on hot days.   

In addition to his farm chores, Gilbert has been quite the teacher.  We've learned about the magical nature of pigs and seen again the wondrous spirit that resides in all sentient beings. 

We're so glad Gilbert was spared on that fateful day in Louisville.  He's here for a reason.  He knows it, and we know it.
