A Home For All

Many difficult and sad cases come to Home At Last. Most of our dogs come from animal shelters where their time had all but run out. We also help frightened strays who have been run off, threatened, and even shot at. It would be relatively easy to fill up the dog yards and just offer lifetime care, but to do the most good, we must work hard to find good adoptive homes. ‘Unadoptable’ is a term often used in animal rescue, but we don’t buy into that label. Watching even the most severely abused dogs begin to trust again helps us understand that all they need is love–and time. Recently, Riley, Braveheart, and Lizzie, three dogs who had been with us a total of nine years, have moved into wonderful homes. The gift of time is the gift of life. Even the most desperate case can come back with enough time and loving care. There really are no ‘unadoptable’ dogs and cats. That belief helps fuel the spirit of all Home At Last animals. They seem to understand that they will have as long as it takes to embrace life on their terms. We offer a helping hand and a bridge to loving, permanent homes. It might take three years or three weeks, but the animals will learn to trust again. Here, time is on their side.
